Our Profile

Quilcene/Brinnon Dollars For Scholars was formed out of the joint effort of  two community service clubs:  The Quilcene Lions Club and The Quilcene/Brinnon Chamber of Commerce.

From an exploratory meeting in the Fall of 1999, Quilcene-Brinnon Dollars For Scholars was founded with a dream to build a $1,000,000 Endowment for our community. To date, we have over $360,000, towards fulfilling that goal and we have awarded over $840,000 in scholarships since 2001. This past year we awarded $115,500 to eleven students and three teachers.

We have established a relationship with the Seattle Foundation, to find qualified candidates for the Bob and Maggie Bergman Endowment.  This fund was created through the Will of Bob and Maggie Bergman for scholarships to seniors graduating from Quilcene High School.  In addition, teachers under contract with the Quilcene School District also qualify for educational training and advancement scholarships.

We are associated with Scholarship America, a nationally recognized nonprofit student aid/service organization.

The key to success is community support from businesses, civic organizations, municipal entities; employees, grass-roots groups, and individuals joining together to make scholarships happen.

There is nothing magic about it.  Anyone who is motivated to contribute in time and/or talent should contact a member of our board.

Please consider an endowment in your Will that could read:

                                     "A Scholarship in Memory of:_______________."

What better gift could you give to the community?
